Wide spectrum kill: A dairy facility provides the perfect environment for a wide variety of mastitis causing bacteria to exist and prosper. The ability of a dairy producer to protect their herd against these organisms is critical to their financial success. Studies show that, on average, mastitis annually costs each producer over $180 per cow in the herd! It is extremely important that the product that is chosen protects against the wide spectrum of organisms that cause mastitis. ZuraLac formulas have been tested under protocols that prove that the teat treatments are safe and effective against both environmental and contagious mastitis-causing organisms.
Safe and gentle to skin tissue: Designed originally to prevent healthcare acquired infections in human clinical settings and, unlike many agents that are harmful to skin tissue, the ZUREX technology has been proven to be safe and gentle to teat skin tissue, yet extremely effective against mastitis causing organisms. A cow's skin tissue in the animal's first line of defense. Studies have shown that organisms causing environmental mastitis, such as coliforms, are more prevalent in sawdust and sand bedding. Cracked skin, cuts and abrasions from environmental damage will easily harbor these organisms on the teat as soon as the cow lies down on dirty bedding. Research has shown that poor teat condition can reduce milk yields and increase milking times. In a recent controlled study conducted at Iowa State University, ZuraLac teat treatment was proven to be equal in skin conditioning qualities to teat dips with the highest emollient additives. In other studies teats were exposed to chemically induced chapping conditions and milked with automatic take-off clusters. Researchers observed that as teat condition worsened, milk yield dropped 3.6%-8.5%, and milking time increased 1.3-2 min, or 26%-51%. As teats healed, milk yield began to improve, and milking time shortened.

ZuraLac SD: ZuraLac SD is a teat treatment that can be applied by spraying, dipping or foaming on cow teats. ZuraLac SD can be used as a pre and post milking teat treatment.
